Troubleshooting
Fixes for common issues while building a map. For background on how each feature works, see the FAQ.
A layer or feature is not showing on the map
The editor shows one floor at a time, so a feature drawn on another floor is hidden by the floor filter. It can also be hidden by its visibility toggle.
- Switch to the correct floor in the Floors strip at the top of the Layers panel.
- Check the layer’s visibility (the eye icon) in the Layers panel and turn it back on.
- If features still look stuck on one floor after switching, reload the editor so the floor filter re-applies.
The Draw button is greyed out
Draw is enabled only when a drawable layer is selected. Select a structures, custom styles, routing, doors, or GeoJSON reference layer first.
Map-suite (text) layers, floor transitions, and the base layer are not freehand-drawable — they are created through their own tools or through the structure they belong to. See Draw.
The routing tool says there is no routing layer for this floor
The routing tool needs a routing layer on the current floor. Create a routing layer for that floor first, and make sure a floor is selected before entering the tool. See How the routing layer works.
The Add 3D Object button is disabled
Adding a 3D object requires a published venue. On a brand-new draft, the add button stays disabled until you publish the venue. The Current floor scope option is also disabled until a floor is selected. See Upload a custom 3D object.
Publish is blocked or fails
- A new draft venue cannot publish until its required setup fields pass. Complete the venue setup first.
- Authentication or API errors leave the failed items dirty so you can retry. Publish again.
- New floors, styles, or categories may need to be created before the layers that depend on them can save. The preview handles these dependencies first.
- Self-intersecting geometry is skipped during publish. Fix it in the Vertex Tool, then publish again.
See Publish.
Share Map or the embed option is missing
Share Map appears only on published venue cards in your dashboard. A draft cannot be embedded until it is published. Publish the map, then open the venue’s card and click Share Map. See Publish & embed your map.
Keyboard shortcuts are not working
- The tool shortcuts are turned off in user settings. Re-enable the Keyboard shortcuts toggle.
- The map does not have focus. Shortcuts are ignored while you are typing in a text field, such as a layer-name or label-text input — click the map first.
See Keyboard shortcuts.
A collaborator’s change disappeared, or undo reverted the wrong thing
Undo and redo are per-user. Ctrl/Cmd + Z only reverts your own edits, never a collaborator’s.
If a change you did not make seems gone, it was likely undone by the editor who made it, or replaced
by a later edit syncing in.
